Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect with a strong background in Java software development to design, implement, and optimize scalable data architectures and backend data systems. In this role, you will bridge the gap between enterprise data architecture, distributed data pipelines, and core Java backend systems to deliver robust, high-performance solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Design: Define overall data architecture, data models (relational and non-relational), and enterprise integration patterns.
- Java System Integration: Design and implement Java-based services, microservices, and custom data connectors to integrate enterprise systems with cloud and on-premise data repositories.
- Data Pipeline Engineering: Lead the creation of real-time and batch data pipelines using Java frameworks, Spark, Kafka, or modern data engineering tools.
- Performance & Scalability: Optimize query performance, database schemas, and Java data processing layers to ensure low latency and high availability.
- Governance & Security: Establish data governance, data quality standards, and access control policies across all data stores.
- Technical Leadership: Guide engineering teams on best practices for Java development, code quality, design patterns, and system design.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- 10+ years of total experience in software engineering and data architecture roles.
- Advanced expertise in Java (Java 8+, Spring Boot, concurrency, performance tuning, microservices).
- Proven track record designing enterprise-grade data platforms, data warehouses, and data lakes.
- Hands-on experience with modern relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL stores (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
- Strong experience with streaming and messaging architectures using Apache Kafka or JMS.
- Expertise in Cloud Data Platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and distributed computing tools (Apache Spark, Hadoop).
- Proficiency in data modeling (dimensional modeling, ERD, Schema-on-Read).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with cloud data warehousing platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
