Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Technology Architect with deep expertise in Java-based enterprise application architecture, Data Engineering, cloud technologies, and modern data platforms.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience designing and delivering scalable, secure, cloud-native applications and large-scale data solutions. This role requires a strong combination of Java architecture, microservices, distributed systems, data engineering, streaming technologies, and cloud modernization experience.
The Technology Architect will provide technical leadership across application and data platforms, establish architecture standards, guide engineering teams, and collaborate with business stakeholders and enterprise architects to deliver strategic technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and design scalable, secure, resilient, and high-performing enterprise applications and data platforms.
- Lead architecture and modernization of Java-based enterprise applications using modern application frameworks and design patterns.
- Design and guide development of microservices, RESTful APIs, and distributed applications.
- Define architecture for large-scale Data Engineering and data processing platforms.
- Design batch and real-time data pipelines supporting high-volume enterprise workloads.
- Architect event-driven and streaming solutions using technologies such as Apache Kafka.
- Drive adoption of cloud-native architecture, containerization, orchestration, and modern deployment patterns.
- Provide architecture leadership for cloud and data modernization initiatives, including migration of legacy applications and data platforms.
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies, frameworks, cloud services, and architectural patterns.
- Establish architecture standards and best practices for performance, scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability.
- Work closely with application developers, data engineers, DevOps teams, security teams, infrastructure teams, and enterprise architects.
- Provide technical guidance, architecture reviews, design reviews, and mentoring to engineering teams.
- Identify technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and architectural challenges and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Ensure solutions comply with enterprise security, governance, architecture, SDLC, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
- Create and maintain architecture documentation, technical designs, solution diagrams, standards, and technology roadmaps.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 12+ years of overall software engineering, architecture, or technology experience, including significant experience in architecture/technical leadership roles.
- Deep hands-on expertise in Java and Java-based enterprise application architecture.
- Strong experience with Spring / Spring Boot and enterprise Java frameworks.
- Extensive experience designing Microservices, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of enterprise integration and event-driven architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or comparable messaging/streaming platforms.
- Strong experience in Data Engineering architecture and large-scale data processing.
- Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT and batch/real-time data pipelines.
- Strong understanding of modern data platforms, data lakes, data warehouses, and distributed data processing architectures.
- Experience with modern data technologies such as Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, Hadoop, or similar platforms.
- Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience designing cloud-native and highly available distributed solutions.
- Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, integration, and performance optimization.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application architectures.
- Strong knowledge of DevOps/DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated deployment, monitoring, and observability.
- Solid understanding of enterprise security principles, authentication/authorization, encryption, and secure application design.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, architecture governance, and enterprise technology standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams and independently drive complex architecture initiatives.

- Experience working within large, complex or regulated organizations.
- Cloud or architecture certifications such as AWS, Azure, GCP, TOGAF, or equivalent are a plus.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is not solely an application architect or data architect. We are looking for someone who can bridge Java application architecture and modern Data Engineering, with the ability to design solutions across applications, APIs, microservices, cloud infrastructure, streaming systems, and enterprise data platforms while remaining technically hands-on.
